A Clivical Survey of Ectopic Pregnancy

Abstract
This study is a clinical analysis of 333 ectopic pregnant patients who were admitted and treated at Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pusan ST. Benedict`s Hospital from January 1,1982 to December 31,1989. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The incidence of ectopic pregnaney was 1 in 41.5 delivery (333/13825).2. The most frequent age group was in 26¡­30 years of age, comparing 41.1%, 31¡­35 years of 24.3%. 3. Nullipara was 31.5% and the cases who experienced artificial abortion was 75.7%. 4. The most frequent interval between L.M.P. and the onset of symptoms was 6 weeks in 36.9%. 5. A previous history of artificial abortion was in 75.7%, PID was in 16.8%, laparoscopic tubal sterilization was in 12.6%, repeat ectopic pregnancy was 7.5% of total. 6. On symptomatological analysis, lower abdominal pain was encountered in 98%, vaginal spotting of bleeding in 75%, nausea vomitting in 11%. 7. Ectopic gestation was implanted on ampullary portion in 81%, cornus in 3.6%, ovary in 1.2%, cervix in 0.6%, and abdomen in 0.6%. 8. Culdocentesis was positive in 94% and urine pregnancy test was positive in 75%. 9.Serum ¥â-hCG level was between 400mIU and 2000 mIU in 31.7%. 10. Intraabdominal hemorrhage below 500cc in amount was 31.8%. 11. Hemoglobin level less than 10 mg/dl was 36% and hematocrit level less than 30% was 35.4% on admission. 12. Pregnancy termination by rupture was 50% and by abortion was 42%. 13. 36.9% of tubal pregnancies was treated by salpingooophorectomy, 28.8% of tubal pregnancies by ipsilateral salpingectomy, 1.2% of all studied cases was treated by salpingostomy. 14. There was no fatal case in 333 ectopic pregnancy.
